I'm a Genius, Mum!

After arriving home from school we headed out into the backyard to play some basketball.  Maddy had received a basketball hoop from Santa and Quinn received a small one too but we hadn't set it up yet.  So while the girls were playing I set up Quinn's hoop & stand.

Maddy and Quinn were taking turns at throwing the basketball and shooting.  Maddy was getting it in and Quinn was finding the ball a bit too heavy and everytime she held it up it would fall out of her hands behind her.

On one of Maddy's shots she got the ball in and after it bounced once she caught it with one hand.  She cried, "Mum, I'm a genius.  I just catch-ed my ball with one hand.  Did you see that?

She was so proud of herself.  Maddy is really coming along with her basketball.  Her shooting is really good and she is starting to chase the ball a lot more.  She practises every afternoon after school and most of the weekend when not involved in other activities.  She is starting to bounce the ball between her legs then continue bouncing, she likes to wear long socks so that she can pull them under her knee caps because thats what the BIG (14yrs+) do at training.  She sees the girls training each Monday and she is starting to copy some of their fashion & their basketball techniques.

She has started trying to spin the basketball on one finger.  All from watching other players do tricks.  She just keeps practising, every day and she is certainly improving.  Her coach said on Monday that her game had improved immensely and that she was much more confident.  She is getting better with each week and its been wonderful to watch her journey so far.
