Mid afternoon we headed down to the Gold Coast Hinterland to a park just 3kms before the Natural Arch. We joined Murray & Janilee Ives with Ryleigh & Brody for a play in the park, BBQ and walk to the Natural Bridge and the glow worms.
The kids had a fantastic time, especially Ryleigh and Maddy. They were off exploring all the wildlife and plants that they could find. Brody just loved Quniie and followed her everywhere. Quinnie would climb up the slippery slide so Brody would follow her and try to push her up. She sceamed when she was annoyed which wasn't too often!! Once at the top Quinnie would wait for Brody to sit down then he would push her down the slide. It was very cute. Then they would run around the slide and repeat the process again.
After cooking a great BBQ & once it had become dark we drove up to the Natural Bridge. Murray had brought glow sticks for each of the kids so we tied them around their necks and proceeded to walk down the path in the dark. It was a bit surreal, so quiet and dark, peaceful yet spooky, relaxing yet panicking that the kids would fall over the side!! But we made it through and Quinn walked all the way down.
The kids were blown away by all the glow worms. It was the best adventure for them. After staying a few minutes we headed back. Quinn was walking with Daddy at the back & I was up the front with Maddy & Ryleigh. Joel reports that Quinn kept bursting into little sprints as she desperately wanted to get to the front to be with her mum! As soon as she reached me she held my hand and she kept going until we reached the car.
The only trouble she encountered, well 2 actually - the first was the stairs - I carried her down those as there were a few too many but none on the way back up that she didn't walk. Secondly she got into trouble when she followed Dad into the toilet after the end of the hike...apparantly she was reaching out to see what Dad was putting into the toilet. All we heard from outside was "Quinn, don't touch!!!!" We were all laughing outside:)
To our absolute shock :) both girls were asleep within minutes of being on the road. It was a peaceful trip home and the end to a wonderful afternoon/evening.
Thanks Muz & Janilee, we had a fantastic time...til the next adventure!!
