Well the last two weeks have been hectic to say the least.
Maddy has been running around the house like a chook with its head chopped off (and YES I have actually seen a chook running around after having its head chopped off...Thanks Grandad) and has been driving me nuts. She desperately needs to have an afternoon nap but refuses to lie down. Mind you she slept for 2 1/2 hours at kindy yesterday, the little toad.
We have been at swimming, catching up with Scarlett, Emily and Victoria after swimming on Wednesday. The four of them are all the same. It makes me feel very normal when I am out with friends and I see their kids acting the same way. The relief is a wonderful break from the constant anguish I feel when Maddie has her 'episodes'. I am quickly learning that all toddlers have them:)
Honey star sandwiches were the order of the day. I hear you asking what on earth are honey star sandwiches???? Don't you know...it is what every toddler wants to eat for lunch. Well for those who deprive their kids of such fabulous lunches (:) it is a honey sandwich which is then cut into a star shape with a cookie cutter. It is amazing how quickly they eat them when comparing it to a normal honey sandwich. All of a sudden it becomes a prized possession and must be consumed before anyone else has the opportunity to take it from you...it is the precious!
THe things you learn as a parent - I would never have considered cutting my sandwiches, cheese, fruit and anything else I could find into shapes but believe me when I say it is an essential know-how of modern parenting. I can't believe I never read it in the million baby books I read before having Maddie. One day I will write down all the essential 'doctrines' of having a kid...now that would be a book worth reading!
