Today has been the third day in a row that Maddy has not seen Joel. He has been working late so we decided to take her into the city to see him. The plan was a great one except that he was in meetings and on the phone the whole time. So I took her down to the riverside centre and met up with some work collegues and showed Maddy the river and the water fountains out the front. She absolutely loved it and didn't want to leave the water.
She is toilet trained now albeit at night when I am not game to leave her in undies however she is waking up dry most mornings now. She is almost there. She takes herself off to the toilet and tells me to come look at her poos in the toilet! How does one say no!!
She is slowly starting to help me around the house, sometimes she picks up her toys and gets things for me. She loves helping me cook - she helps mash the potatoes and does lots of mixing. Her favourite snack at the moment is to eat a whole carrot - raw, straight from the fridge. She just opens up the fridge and helps herself. Mostly it is a carrot, other times an apple and occassionally a piece of celery. Last Sunday she told me that I needed to go to the shops as we had to buy more carrots - there were none left in the fridge. I have no idea how I managed to have a kid who loves healthy food (but don't be deceived she loves lollies and chocolate) but carrots, celery and lettuce. We went to the Enjoy Inn Chinese restaurant in the Valley a few months ago and when they served Sanchoy Bow wrapped in a lettuce leaf she asked the waitress if she could just have a piece of lettuce. She eats better than I do!
I am slowly recovering from surgery. I am still in a lot of pain which to date is unexplained. Back to the doctor in a week to have another round of tests to see if they can find the problem. Back to work tomorrow after two weeks sick leave - will be a bit of a shock to the system but need to get out of the house and into some adult conversation.
