I'm a good skier mum!

Today, Wednesday, we headed up the mountain again for another day of skiing. Maddy just wanted to build a snow man and throw snow at Joel. So we left her to roll around in the snow and have the time of her life. I decided to do a few runs before she wanted me to play with her and headed down Main Street, Highway 83 and Rapunzels. As I went down Rapenzels I realised that there was no one else on the run with me. It was completely deserted. It has been so quiet this week it has been fantastic. No queues and the roads have been free of traffic heading up and down the mountain. It felt a bit weird to have no one around you. Normally there are people on every side of you and it can be difficult to navigate around beginner skiers.

After a few runs and some fun with the kids it was time to head back so I decided to ski Maddy down Wombat's Ramble for the last run. I popped Maddy between my skis and away we went...well Joel had to push us across the top of the mountain until we reached the downhill slope and then we were away.

Maddy did really well. She stood straight putting her weight into the snow and kept her knees bent and had a lot of control over her skis. We stopped a few times, only for mums benefit! and made it to the bottom without falling over and still sane. While we were skiing Maddy said to me "I'm a good skier mum!" No wonder - she was skiing between my skis. But she loved it nonetheless and because she was in front of me she was happy because she was the "leader". She loved going fast as well. She has no fear and loves to go on any adventure. I keep waiting for her first broken bone. I am sure she will do some damage in the ensuing years.
